Born on 24 October 1985 in Tarbes, Lionel played at fly half and full-back. He wore the jersey of several major French clubs: La Section Paloise, Stade Français, Stade Toulousain, Union Bordeaux Bègles, LOU, Oyonnax Rugby, and AS Béziers. He also played for France between 2007 and 2012, and returned once more for the 2018 Six Nations tournament. Lionel is renowned for his excellent kicking. Lionel was French Champion in 2007 with Stade Français and in 2012 with Stade Toulousain. He was French Champion in 2007 with Stade Français and in 2012 with Stade Toulousain, and has 24 caps for France.
He now coaches the U23s at LOU Rugby.
